Electricity Objectives - After
completing this final physics section you will be able to:
1.
Explain
the characteristics of static charge and how it is generated through conduction
and induction.
2.
Understand
the unit of electric charge as it relates to electrons.
3.
Recognize
and interpret Coulomb’s Law (inverse square law).
4.
Understand
the origin of electric current and its units.
5.
Understand
potential difference (voltage) and how it relates to work and potential energy.
6.
Understand
the concept of electrical resistance and the key factors that affect its value.
7.
Use
Ohm’s Law to develop a qualitative and quantitative understanding of current,
voltage, resistance, and the connections between them and water flow through a
pipe.
8.
Recognize
series and parallel circuits and understand their relation to current and
voltage.
9.
Understand
how electric power relates to current and voltage.
10.
Analyze
circuits (find the current at any point and the potential difference between
any two points in the circuit) using Kirchoff’s Rules
and Ohm’s law.
